Francine Pegues is dedicated. She is a dedicated participant in the Detroit
community and a dedicated professional who has worked in the healthcare industry
for more than 25 years, including 20 years in managed care. Her range of experiences
include: development of a Medicare Risk contract with the Health Care Financing Administration
in 1983, target marketing of business opportunities with Michigan governmental entities and
sales management for Blue Cross Blue Shield/Blue Care Network of Michigan. In her current
position as a Corporate Key Marketing Director, Ms. Pegues is responsible for Blue Cross Blue
Shield’s 50 largest Michigan customers. These accounts employ about 350,000 employees.
Prior to joining Blue Cross Blue Shield/Blue Care Network of Michigan, Ms. Pegues was active
in the political arena for more than 13 years. During that time she worked for Ohio Governor
John Gilligan, President Jimmy Carter, Detroit Mayor Coleman Young and the Michigan Republican
State Committee.
Within the Detroit community, Ms. Pegues has demonstrated a commitment through active participation
as the vice chair for the board of directors of the Michigan Metro Girl Scout Council; chairperson of
the Dominican High School and Academy board of directors; and a trustee for the Parade Company
(the organization that sponsors the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade). Other activities include
her election to four two-year terms as a board member of the Blues PAC, an appointment by Detroit
Mayor Dennis Archer as chairperson of the Civic Center Commission. She is a graduate of
Leadership Detroit XVI, a program sponsored by the Greater Detroit Chamber of Commerce;
and in 1997, Ms. Pegues was honored by the Sojourner Foundation for her support of causes
that benefit women and girls.
Francine Pegues is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio), where she earned a B.A. in political
science and she has completed two years of graduate studies in hospital and health services
administration at Ohio State University. In 1997, Ms. Pegues received the Certified Managed
Care Executive (CMCE) designation from the American Association of Health Plans (AAHP).
